    La testimonianza del vescovo emerito Francesco Panfilo, che dopo anni di missione nelle Filippine è stato mandato da Giovanni Paolo II a guidare una diocesi a Papua. “Duc in altum”, prendi il largo: queste parole di Gesù sono state scelte per il motto episcopale del vescovo salesiano, che ha servito come missionario nelle Filippine per 32 anni, per poi raggiungere la Papua Nuova Guinea, dove è stato dapprima ad Alotau e poi ha guidato l’arcidiocesi di Rabaul diventando anche presidente della conferenza episcopale del Paese. La missione, ha detto, è questione di cuore, “passione per Cristo” e “passione per l’uomo”.
